COVID-19 found to mainly affect at-risk groups in Thailand

As of July 3, 2024, the Thai Department of Disease Control (DDC) indicated that COVID-19 predominantly affects at-risk groups, particularly the elderly and those with pre-existing health conditions. Since the beginning of the year, there have been 31,205 hospitalizations due to COVID-19, with 172 reported deaths. In the week from June 23 to June 29, 3,256 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, averaging 465 per day, alongside 709 pneumonia cases and 336 requiring assisted breathing. The DDC noted 16 deaths during this period, primarily among individuals over 60 years old. Health officials have emphasized the importance of preventive measures for at-risk groups, including maintaining physical distance, wearing masks, and frequent handwashing.
